Is this medical advice?

No. PimplePatche provides general information only. It cannot diagnose a skin condition, replace a visit to a health professional, or promise any result. Skin differs from person to person.

When should I talk to a health professional?

Ask a dermatologist, doctor or pharmacist if you have:

  • Deep, painful bumps, or several at once
  • Acne that is spreading, getting worse, or not improving
  • Scars or dark marks that bother you
  • Signs of infection, such as spreading redness, warmth, swelling or fever
  • A reaction to a patch or adhesive, such as burning, blistering or strong itching
  • Questions about acne products while pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medicines

What if you are a teenager?

Pimple patches are sold without a prescription. As a precaution, ask a parent, guardian or pharmacist before trying patches with active ingredients, such as salicylic acid, or microneedle patches. This is a cautious suggestion and not a rule from a guideline.

What if it is an emergency?

If you have a severe allergic reaction, trouble breathing, or swelling of the face or throat, get urgent medical help right away.

What about product claims?

Descriptions of products are based on our sources or our own testing, as each article states. We do not endorse any product as a treatment for acne or any other condition.
